An average skylight becomes dirty more quickly than our LightCatcher. Thanks to its specific design, the LightCatcher is self-cleaning: dirt doesn’t stick, it glides right off. The maintenance guidelines are minimal. If you want to clean it manually, all you need is water and a soft sponge. We recommend preventive inspection of your roof once a year for irregularities, namely an accumulation of leaves or moss. For performance monitoring of the moving parts, a wireless monitoring tool is available (optionally).

It would be a real chore to break in via our LightCatcher. Not only are there several layers (each is sealed separately and all are made of high-quality and impact-resistant polycarbonate), our systems come with special anti-burglar screws: once installed, the skylight cannot be opened.

The LightCatcher can be installed on slanting roofs, but prefer a flat roof: that’s where they are easiest to install, contrary to solar panels. In most cases, only little fortification is needed. So contrary to solar panels: the LightCatcher is easy to install and isn’t too heavy for your roof. A flat roof is our LightCatcher’s dream. But don’t worry, with an adjusted curb or light shaft we can quickly provide the ideal solution for your slanting roof.

We guide you through the installation with step-by-step instructions that include drawings. Therefore, you can install the LightCatcher yourself or use the services of a tradesman that you know. Contrary to traditional skylights, the LightCatcher doesn’t cause temperature differences thanks to two stagnate layers of air. Our specific three-layer structure ensures this. Under the polycarbonate dome lies a polycarbonate lens, which pushes the incoming light through a light shaft, while creating a stagnate layer of air in the dome. The light shaft is closed on the bottom by a second polycarbonate lens, this time with a flat or pyramidal shape to spread the compressed light throughout the building optimally, once again creating a stagnate layer of air. The LightCatcher provides optimal thermal insulation: no extra heating expenses in the winter, no expensive heat that escapes, and in the summer no sweltering heat that sneaks in and no extra air conditioning costs. Its U-value is 1,2 on a very limited surface.
The LightCatcher follows the rhythm of the sun. From sunrise to sunset it does what it is meant to do: illuminate your building. The LightCatcher’s strength is its ability to catch daylight, even when the sun is hidden behind a thick layer of clouds. After all, the sun isn’t the direct source for our system. The LightCatcher needs daylight, not sunrays. The system works on cloudy and rainy days too.
If you have a traditional skylight, you undoubtedly know the problem. Condensation occurs frequently. During humid periods with large temperature differences between the interior and exterior, moisture accumulates easily and that causes mildew. Condensation is a natural phenomenon and polycarbonate is a porous plastic, yet the LightCatcher protects itself. An integrated dehumidifier catches it maximally.
